Odd things can spark a chain of thoughts. I was folding clothes and picked up my engineer hubby’s t-shirt that sports the message “I am the warranty” on the back. It makes his engineer heart sing to fix things, which he loves to do.
I thought of verses like 2 Corinthians 1:21-22, “And it is God who establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.” And in Philippians 1:6 Paul says, And “I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
We can become discouraged when we see how we’ve missed the mark, or compare ourselves to others, or listen to those old voices telling us we’re not good enough. But we’ve been given a promise by a God who always keeps His word. He is our guarantee and warranty, and will keep working in our hearts and lives to conform us to the perfect image of Jesus through the indwelling of His Holy Spirit.
We can rest in assurance that He will never leave us or forsake us. The thing we need to do is to yield to Him; the Holy Spirit is the one who gives us the strength to do that. And rest in this promise, “He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it” (1Thessalonians 5:24).
