Four and a half years ago, when things were topsy-turvy in our world, I wrote a post about keeping the “main thing the main thing” http://cyndicarter.com/2021/03/03/the-main-thing/. Well, much to my dismay, things are at least if not more chaotic, and so I’d like to address what’s going on.
As I walked this morning the words of Paul to the church in Corinth came to mind. In 1 Corinthians 2:1-2, he said: “You’ll remember, friends, that when I first came to you to let you in on God’s sheer genius, I didn’t try to impress you with polished speeches and the latest philosophy. I deliberately kept it plain and simple: first Jesus and who he is; then Jesus and what he did—Jesus crucified.” (The Message Translation)
Yes, I’m concerned and saddened by so much of what’s happening. I won’t even go into the laundry list, because that’s not why I’m here. Don’t get upset if I don’t address something specifically, because I don’t want to lose focus on the most important thing. And that is not, “He said/she said,” “He did/she did,” or, “Oh isn’t that awful!” My focus, no matter how or through which medium, is to point people to Jesus, who He is, what He’s done for Me, and what He is able to do for anyone and everyone who believes in Him. And that, friends, more than anything else, is the main thing.
