What do you do when you feel discouraged? I’ve been feeling that way recently, but this morning I was blessed by the verse of the day from one of my Bible apps. Today’s selection was 1 Timothy 6:12, in which Paul tells young Timothy, “Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.”
This verse reminded me to tenaciously hold onto my faith and the knowledge that Jesus gave me eternal life. To allow Jesus’ promise that I became his child when I trusted in him to really sink into my heart, not just my head. To remember that I actually have made a “good confession” of my faith to others. Sometimes it really is a fight to focus on these truths rather than to succumb to the voices of criticism, comparison, and condemnation.
So, stand your ground, fight the good fight of faith, and don’t let your joy be stolen. And when you can’t? God will remember for you.
