Come As You Are

When we lived in Alabama, there was an Osage orange tree at the back of our lot.  It was a tangled, bushy mess with large thorns.  One day my hubby was working in the back yard and our dog Elsa limped up to him, holding her front paw up.  She had stepped on a thorn, and immediately came to him because she knew he could help her.

Unlike Elsa, sometimes we hide or run away when we need help, make a mistake, or totally foul something up.  We put on the happy face, pretending everything’s okay, but it’s not.  We do it with people, and we do it with God, fearing rejection or punishment.  But isn’t that like being sick or having a broken bone, and not letting the doctor see it?  Or, thinking we should get well before we go to the doctor.  How will it get fixed if we won’t do that?

The good news is that Jesus knows we can’t fix ourselves.  He invites us to come as we are, in all our mistakes, brokenness, and sin.  No matter what it is, He just says, “Come to Me.”  And He’s ready and able to take care of whatever it is.

“Come As You Are” captures this thought.  Take a listen – you’ll be glad you did. Follow the link to YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tw6_SIUSacU
