The political campaigns are heated right now. Many people have chosen candidates to support. They believe they’re right, and the other side is wrong; and they want to know which side you’re on.
Joshua, the man designated to lead Israel, asked the same question. Before they went into the Promised Land, he saw a man standing with a sword in his hand, drawn for battle. He asked,
“Are you for us or for our adversaries?” The man answered, “No; rather I indeed come now as captain of the host of the LORD.” (Joshua 5:13-15)
God is not a Republican, or a Democrat, or a Libertarian, or whatever party you can think of. He is Who He is, and His purposes are His own. It’s up to us to get on board with Him, and to walk in His holiness, righteousness, justice, and mercy. The apostle John wrote, “Moses gave us the Law, but Jesus, the Anointed One, unveils truth wrapped in tender mercy.” (John 1:17, The Passion Translation)
Let’s stop trying to make God fit into the box of our agenda, or putting our trust in a person or politician. I’ll say, “Neither,” and do my best to follow the LORD’s way.
