Just like seasons change, we go through seasons in our lives. If we’re going through hard situations we might see the change as good. “Now, that’s over,” like when we’ve recovered from an illness or surgery. But it can be painful if we’re faced with a change when things are going well. It can feel like we’re moving from lush pasturelands to an arid desert, especially if it’s sudden or something we can’t control.
In Isaiah 43:19b God says, “I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” That encourages me. Even when the way in front of me looks hopeless, God says He’ll make a way in the trackless wastes and send water to the desert. And not just a trickle, but a river.
My hubby and I have experienced changing seasons with friendships, churches, and jobs. We can both look back and see that God has met us in those new seasons. He’s taught us things through each of these seasons that we never would have learned otherwise and given us friends that we call family. I’m grateful for His faithfulness, and believe He’ll continue to do so through the coming seasons.
