Choose Life

Sorry I’ve been out so long. Lots of stuff going on, including the last six weeks dealing with some major back/hip/leg issues. Still got a way to go to get back to normal.

During the last few weeks down with my back I’ve listened to all manner of sad news reports. There’s war and rumor of war across the globe. In our own country there’s hatred, murder in the streets, and clamor to murder in the womb. I’m grieved, dismayed, and sickened at the direction we’re heading as a nation. Up is down and down is up.

I have to remind myself of what a good friend of mine says. “Lost people just do what lost people do.” Someone who doesn’t know Jesus as Lord isn’t naturally going to act or think like God wants them to. God said His ways, thinking, and reasoning are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). The Apostle Paul said God’s truth only makes sense to us because the Holy Spirit gives us understanding on a spiritual level (1 Corinthians 2:14). All actions are an overflow from the heart (Mark 7:20-23), and only the Holy Spirit can change our hearts.

Moses told the people, “…choose life, that you and your offspring may live…” (Deuteronomy 30:19). God’s design from the start was for us to love each other; to care for each other; to forgive each other; to treat each other with respect and dignity; and to value every life as God’s gift and creation. Who wouldn’t want to live in a world like that?

Please choose Life – and Life is the person of Jesus. If you haven’t already, there’s no better time than today.
